Printed circuit boards are a common integral part of any electronic device ranging from digital watches and electronic cameras to radios and computers. A printed circuit board (PCB) is a set of electronic components placed on a single
board and connected by metal traces. Many different methods are used to form the conducting paths on a printed circuit. The most widespread method makes use of a rigid or flexible plastic, phenolic, masonite, or glass baseboard (the substrate) that is coated on one or both sides by a thin layer of copper foil. Non-conducting areas are etched away. A working electronic circuit is produced by soldering components (e.g resistors, capacitors, integrated circuits) onto the board.
